You will need:

  • Kona cotton (ivory or natural)
  • DMC embroidery floss in white, red and black
  • Embroidery pattern by cozyblue

Learn how to do the stitches needed in this tutorial from our library of embroidery stitches. If you’re a newbie to embroidery, learn how to embroider with our tutorial and check out our embroidery for beginners complete guide.

How to make mini embroidery designs

Step 1

Transfer the design onto your fabric (find cozyblue handmade’s embroidery transfer method here).

Step 2

Mini Santa embroidery designs step 2

Using 2 strands of red embroidery floss, with the following embroidery stitches: seed stitch and satin stitch, embroider the Santa hat.

Using a single strand of red embroidery floss, straight stitch the Santa nose, cheeks and mouth. Using 2 strands of white embroidery floss (3 strands for larger faces), French knot the beard.

Then, with a single strand of black embroidery floss French knot the eyes.

Step 3

Cut out the faces, leaving about 3/4″ of extra fabric around each one, and place them into your mini hoop.

To finish, stitch along the edge of the fabric with a running stitch. Stuff with a little bit of soft toy stuffing between the fabric and the middle inset of your mini hoop, then pull the thread to gather the fabric around the inset and slip it into the hoop. Add a bit more soft toy stuffing between the middle inset and the backing plate.

Step 4

Attach a pin back to make a brooch, a necklace chain, or baker’s twine to make a Christmas decoration.

Mini festive embroidery designs

Your mini Santa embroidery designs are complete! We hope you enjoyed Cozyblue’s mini embroidery designs and will make lots this Christmas.

Merry and bright stitching

Looking for more festive stitching? Check out our merry and bright free Christmas embroidery design.

A festive embroidery hoop with the phrase "merry & bright" in white thread is surrounded by colorful floral and leaf designs on a dark fabric. It's framed in a red hoop and placed on a wooden surface, accompanied by scissors, a thimble, and some greenery.
