The semi-final of The Great British Sewing Bee left fans in shock last night after star contestant Kit was sent home. It was an emotional goodbye among the contestants and caused a stir on social media, with many angry at the judges’ decision.
Shocked to see Kit go. Loved seeing his innovative and challenging creations. – @bohemian.becky
Kit, 24, from Manchester, was favoured to win the show after a stunning performance in the competition. Winning six out of seven Pattern Challenges, numerous Transformation Challenges and winning garment of the week the episode before, many thought he’d be crowned this year’s champion.

His flamboyant, creative designs won the hearts and minds of the audience, and he quickly became a fan favourite. His positive attitude and willingness to help out other contestants on the show also won him a spot in the nation’s heart.
Kit should not have been sent home. He was by far the most talented from week 1. Judges, what were you thinking? – @elainehenoria
Sadly, it was his 1920s-inspired flapper dress which sent him out of the competition. Unfinished and messily stitched, the lace detailing on the dress didn’t meet the high standards of this year’s competition.
Hundreds took to social media to praise Kit and discuss last night’s semi-finalists. While some were outraged at his exit, others agreed the right three made it to the final.
I’m happy with the finalists. Sadly Kit had a bad week, Caz did as well but her dress was just that but better than Kits. – @nature_loving_donna
Caz, Yasmin and Orla will battle it out next week to be crowned The Great British Sewing Bee 2025 champion. We can’t wait to see what they make!
Watch The Great British Sewing Bee final, 16th September, 9pm, BBC One.
